Researchers from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga., are scheduled to present findings from a study involving fluorine-18 sodium fluoride at the SNMMI Annual Meeting. The PET agent is used to visualize portions of bone with cancerous lesions. The findings will show the positive predictive value of the tracer, said researcher Sam Belakhlef, the hospital's assistant director of PET/CT imaging, and he notes there is more to be learned. "We have probably just scratched the surface of these scans," Belakhlef said.
