80% of smartphone users do local searches, survey finds

Most U.S. smartphones users make use of local search functions on their mobile devices multiple times weekly, according to a survey by Google, Ipsos MediaCT and Purchased. Users search for details such as directions to stores, business store hours and in-store product availability, and they tend to do so while outside their homes, with about 41% of the local searches occurring in stores.
