Teacher-education redesign includes more field experiences

Winona State University-Rochester has reshaped its teacher-training curriculum to closely model the clinical doctors-in-training model. Students receive more time in classrooms, accompanied by faculty who provide structured feedback and support. Some of the teachers-in-training say the new model is working. "I've become more comfortable around the kids and in front of the kids," Todd Pierson, a Winona State student, said.
