Herceptin combo effective in fighting advanced breast cancer

Researchers in two separate studies found Herceptin is safe and effective against advanced breast cancer when used with certain other cancer drugs. The drug has previously been associated with severe cardiac side effects, so researchers sought to sidestep those problems by looking for a combination with other chemotherapy drugs, and found in human trials that carboplatin, cisplatin and docetaxel provided the most effective and safest combination for Herceptin.
