Interview: UFCW president discusses Wal-Mart effect

Joseph Hansen, international president of the United Food & Commercial Workers union, spoke with the Detroit Free Press yesterday and discussed the union's attempt to organize Wal-Mart employees. Hansen concedes consumers benefit from Wal-Mart's low prices, but he worries about the effects the retailer has on the economy, including lowering wages and minimal health care coverage.
