Oklahoma Muslim girl wins right to wear hajib to school

Nashala Hearn, a sixth-grade student in the Muskogee Public School District, will be allowed to wear a head scarf to class as part of a settlement announced yesterday by the Justice Department. The government had pursued the change to the district's dress code to allow religious head coverings as part of a broader effort to protect Arab-Americans and Muslims from discrimination.
