Device representative discusses priorities in clinical-trials project

The Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative, a partnership between the FDA and Duke University formed with the goal of improving clinical trials, includes one executive board member from the medical-device industry -- Medtronic's Susan Alpert. "One of my goals as a member of this executive committee is to make sure that the issues that face the device industry and device trials are on the table," Alpert said in an interview. She specifically mentioned blinding in device trials and patent protection.
