UN presses Myanmar on aid as Ban prepares visit

John Holmes, the United Nations' top humanitarian official who is touring Myanmar, continued to press the military regime Tuesday to accept more international aid for the 2.4 million people believed to be in urgent need of help in the aftermath of the devastating cyclone. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is preparing to visit Myanmar Thursday. Holmes said Ban likely will meet with Senior General Than Shwe.
