New Mexico communities get $27.5M for water system upgrades

New Mexico will receive $27.5 million in stimulus funds for water projects, but only 80% of the funds have been committed so far. Eight New Mexico communities will upgrade their drinking water infrastructure and water quality, while another 11 towns and two counties will begin wastewater infrastructure and sewage treatment plant improvements. The funds are being released through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which has yet to award the remaining 20% in funding earmarked for green projects.
