NTSB calls for new look at MD-80 safety features

Following hearings into an emergency landing in 2007, the National Transportation Safety Board is urging the FAA to reassess some safety features on the MD-80 family of aircraft, including engine-start valve systems. The board also criticized American Airlines' maintenance and training policies prior to the incident, but a company spokesman said new policies already have been put into place.
