State senator says legislators will close Oregon School for the Blind

An Oregon state school for children with visual disabilities will be closed this year, said state Sen. Margaret Carter, the Democratic chairwoman of the Senate budget committee. Some legislators believe the school's $3 million in funding would be best spent by school districts teaching their own students with visual disabilities.
