Cessna applies for patent on turbine wheel device

Cessna applied for a U.S. patent for a device that adds a free-spinning turbine wheel to an engine. When the wheel spins, it generates electric, hydraulic or other power for the aircraft. The device would eliminate traditional geared power generators, and would save costs and eliminate weight for the aircraft.
