States work to push high-speed rail plans forward

The details of proposed high-speed railways are being worked out nationwide. Competing corridors in Wisconsin agree on the need for more state investment in high-speed rail and increased Amtrak service. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania's Transportation Department is hunting for federal funds to pay for a study on high-speed rail between Cleveland and Buffalo, N.Y. And, friction between California lawmakers and its high-speed rail authority could slow that state's plans.
