AAR: Intermodal traffic climbs, carload shipments resume growth

Carloadings on major U.S. railroads edged up 1.6% in the week ended May 14 compared with the year-ago period, according to the Association of American Railroads. Carload shipments were bolstered by increased demand for ores, grains and metals. Intermodal traffic jumped 6.3% to 231,875 containers and trailers over the same period.
