Analysis: If CFTC misses July deadline, derivatives face legal limbo

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has said it will not meet a mid-July deadline for implementing regulations for the over-the-counter derivatives market. The CFTC's failure to meet the deadline will put billions of dollars in derivatives contracts into a legal no man's land unless a short-term solution is implemented, according to Reuters.
