DHS official: Collaboration key to U.S. cyberdefenses

Better data sharing, increased trust and collaboration between the federal government and the private sector are essential to protecting the government's infrastructure, according to Charles Edwards, deputy inspector general for the Department of Homeland Security. "DHS has strengthened the security of [industrial control systems] by addressing the need to share critical cybersecurity information, analyze vulnerabilities, verify emerging threats, and disseminate mitigation strategies," Edwards said.
