Ethnobotanists call for global program to save endangered plants

A gap between ethnobotanists and government policymakers is threatening plants important to medicine, nutrition and cultural heritage, observers say. Scientists, who met recently at the Missouri Botanical Garden, said some plant species needed for food and other uses are nearing extinction and a worldwide program is needed to identify and preserve them.
