Handle employee terminations with candor

If an employee's behavior is problematic, it's important to handle the situation with candor, according to Jonathan Pyle, a vice president for ThinkHR. If a negative behavior persists even after you have had a conversation with the employee, you should provide a written warning noting that termination is a possibility. "The worst thing that you can do is sit them down and terminate [employees] without warning," he said.
