HHS allows states to streamline Medicaid enrollment

States may offer a simpler Medicaid enrollment process regardless of whether they will expand eligibility under the Affordable Care Act. For example, states may use data that enrollees have already provided for other programs, such as food stamps, and may permit adults to remain enrolled for a year even if their income rises, federal Medicaid Director Cindy Mann told state Medicaid officials.
