Mobile app execs, AFL-CIO lobby Congress on H-1B visa issue

Mobile-application development executives will lobby members of Congress this week on the pending immigration reform bill as part of a trade group effort. The executives will conduct a series of meetings to convince lawmakers of the importance of H-1B visas. Meanwhile, the AFL-CIO is urging opposition to an amendment offered by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, to loosen restrictions on issuing the visas, arguing that tech companies such as Google and Facebook, which back Hatch's amendment, should be required to offer the high-tech jobs to Americans first.
