NYC needs coordinated approach to addressing flood risk, experts say

New York City needs a regional body tasked with coordinating efforts to reduce flood risk and prepare for climate change, according to experts at a symposium held by the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter. "New York City's zoning resolution is old, cumbersome and difficult to understand by professionals and laypeople alike," said chapter President Jill Lerner. "Zoning does not take into account the threat of climate change, and transportation and zoning issues are not being coordinated."
