Pinterest rolls out "active" pins with product information

Pinterest has introduced pins with embedded information as part of an effort to make the site more useful to advertisers, the company said in a blog post. The new "active" pins, made in partnership with companies such as Netflix, Urban Outfitters and Wal-Mart, could include details such as film ratings for pins about movies and product information and recipes. The company also unveiled a Pin It button for mobile applications.
