Carriers are lapping up Samsung Electronics' new Galaxy S4 smartphone, co-CEO Shin Jong-kyun said last week following the handset's launch last month in about 60 countries. "We are confident that we will pass more than 10 million sales of the S4 next week. It is selling much faster than the previous model S3," he told the Korea Times, referring to shipments rather than consumer sales. Samsung today announced its "Smart App Challenge 2013" in which 10 developers will share $800,000 for using the company's software development kit to develop applications for the Galaxy phones, particularly to work with the S4's "Group Play" sharing service.
