Spain moves forward with education reforms

Spain's deputy prime minister, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria, is calling for "an urgent remodelling of the whole education system" in response to reports of high youth unemployment and dropouts. Reforms, recently approved by the country's government, include allowing students to choose a vocational or academic path at age 15 and establishing new exams that students must pass. The plan, however, has drawn criticism from some and protests in several areas.
