Va. prepares for shift to digital exams this year

Virginia, which did not sign onto the Common Core State Standards, this year is transitioning to electronic state tests, which have experienced glitches in other states that have adopted them. This year also marks updates to the state's reading, science and writing exams, and officials say the new digital format will allow for students to be assessed on more higher-order thinking skills.
