VOD is paying off for multichannel video providers

Video on demand is starting to pay off, in terms of providing critical audience boosts to TV shows, retaining pay-TV customers and -- if fast-forwarding is shut off -- providing reassurance to marketers that their ads are being viewed. VOD "will hopefully replace some digital video recorder viewing, where fast-forwarding is enabled," said Toby Byrne, Fox's president for advertising sales.
