The Obama administration is working to ensure that none of the scandals swirling around Washington adhere to members of the president's inner circle. That task -- made trickier by the revelation that the White House's chief lawyer knew about the IRS audit weeks ago -- will involve strenuous flat-out denials of White House involvement in the scandals, officials said. "Our basic thrust is that nobody, here, did anything wrong. ... That's why none of this is going to stick," one Obama official told reporters.
