Bridge linking Sicily, Italy gets OK

The Italian government last month began searching for a general contractor for a $7.5 billion bridge linking the island of Sicily with mainland Italy. The more than two-mile span would be the longest suspension bridge in the world, and the increasing likelihood that the long-talked-about project will be built has sparked debates about whether it is necessary.
