Recycled concrete mixtures create longer-lasting bridge decks

Ten new concrete mixtures that contain industrial byproducts could be used to make bridge decks that may last 75 to 100 years, according to the Penn State engineers who developed the mixtures. "The cost of bridges constructed with these mixtures is nearly identical to the previous generation of bridges," said Paul J. Tikalsky, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at the school.
