Deprivation holidays become latest travel trend

Relaxing holidays are a thing of the past, according to proponents of the latest travel trend: deprivation travel. "The era of sitting by the pool with cocktails and cooking in the sun is gone," said Aidan Boyle, the owner of Body & Soul. "People want something more for their holidays." Instead, they say modern travelers are looking for a challenge, to lose weight, quit smoking or a truly unique experience, such as staying in an ice hotel.
