UBS financing aided BlackRock's purchase of distressed assets

UBS financed 75%, or $11.25 billion, of the $15 billion used by BlackRock to purchase distressed U.S. real estate assets from UBS. Investors applauded the deal as a way for UBS to shed the troubled assets from its balance sheet. BlackRock raised the remaining $3.75 billion in equity from investors.
