Walking is linked to a lower risk of metabolic syndrome

Study data showed a connection between walking more and a lower risk of developing metabolic syndrome, which can lead to heart disease and diabetes. People who took between 5,000 and 9,999 steps daily had a 40% lower risk of metabolic syndrome, while those who walked 10,000 or more steps had a 72% lower risk, compared with people who were sedentary.
