Calif. to forgo another attempt at NCLB waiver

California education leaders won't make another bid for a waiver to some requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act, officials said Monday. The issue that led to the denial of the state's previous request -- tying teachers' evaluations to test scores -- remains a sticking point among state and federal leaders, the officials explained. However, a coalition of nine school districts seeking its own waiver is expected to submit a revised plan next week.
