Gerbils and mice sent into space by Russia die during mission

All the Mongolian gerbils and half the mice sent into space by Russia have died on the 30-day mission. Scientists with the Bion-M experimental flight, launched last month, blame an equipment failure for the deaths. Scientists had expected half the mice to die, but thought the gerbils, used to harsh conditions, would survive.
