Immigration proposal moves forward on the Hill

The latest iteration of the immigration bill would make H-1B visas easier to attain and is a product of bipartisan compromise and collaboration, lawmakers say. The proposal would increase the cap on high-skilled workers and create a new visa program for low-skilled workers. However, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., says more work is needed. "Through an extensive, open and transparent process, they have made real improvements to the bill," Rubio said. "However, the reality is that work still remains to be done. Immigration reform will not become law unless we can earn the confidence of the American people that we are solving our immigration problems once and for all."
