Miss. law issues moratorium on new hospice licenses

A new Mississippi law will freeze the number of new hospice licenses, a move supported by a regional hospice organization. An earlier moratorium had been in effect from 2008 to 2012. Lawmakers and the hospice industry were concerned about the increasing number of hospices that are forced to repay Medicare due to cap overpayments.
