RDs counsel children on monitoring food-allergy status

Research shows about 25% of children with food allergies outgrow them, but they are doing so at an older age, possibly because of the prevalence of multiple allergies, registered dietitian Sherry Coleman Collins writes. The type of allergen also affects when a child outgrows an allergy. Dietitians can counsel patients about re-evaluating their status, avoiding foods that trigger an allergic response and eating a nutritious and safe diet.
