SoftBank relents, allows Sprint talks with DISH

SoftBank has given Sprint Nextel permission to ratchet up discussions with DISH Network over the satellite provider's $25.5 billion offer to buy the carrier, although Sprint directors still consider SoftBank's $20.1 billion bid to be superior. Sprint said it can now provide DISH with private information and negotiate directly with the company. SoftBank had given Sprint permission April 30 to exchange public information but not engage in direct talks. Sprint shareholders reportedly have pressured SoftBank to sweeten its offer and allow the carrier to negotiate with DISH.
