Triggering inflammation helps heal wounds in study

Injecting plasminogen around chronic diabetic wounds in mice stimulated an inflammatory response that accelerated healing, researchers at Sweden's Umea University report. The study increased scientists' understanding of the healing process, and a clinical trial is under way to test the plasma protein in people.
