UK school adopts cross-curricular approach to instruction

A new, innovative, free secondary school that offers "cross-subject projects" -- rather than traditional classroom lessons -- is set to open in Doncaster, England. The goal is to replicate the way learning occurs in the "real world", one school official said. For example, an examination of wildlife in a backyard garden can include lessons in maths to determine the size of the garden and study samples and percentages. It also can include lessons on history, geography, biology and more.
