U.S. consumers less pessimistic than at any point since 2008

U.S. consumer confidence last week was at its highest point since daily tracking began in 2008, according to Gallup. The minus 5 reading was up from minus 11 the previous week, though it remains in skeptical territory. Meanwhile, a decline in gasoline prices brought consumers relief in their household budgets last month, with overall consumer prices down 0.4%, the Labor Department reported.
