ASCE team to examine quake-damaged infrastructure in China

A team from ASCE is laying plans to enter the Chinese quake zone to study the disaster's effects on roads, power transmission, telecommunications and other critical infrastructure. The five-member team will collaborate with the China Civil Engineer Society and will produce a monograph based on its findings. The quake zone is currently closed to foreigners not directly involved in search-and-rescue operations, so it could be late June before the team is on the ground.
