Asian routes give some carriers incentives to merge

Consolidation in the airline industry is expected to enhance the value of Asian routes, experts say. For example, Northwest Airlines and United Airlines have extensive Asian networks. Any merger deals that other carriers might make with Northwest or United, experts say, would enhance those networks and diversify their customer base.
