French analysis links oral hormone therapy to blood clot risks

A meta-analysis of 17 studies found that hormone therapy pills more than double the risk of potentially lethal blood clots in menopausal women, particularly during the first year of treatment, French researchers announced. But some experts say the study is flawed and that other reviews of research confirm that HRT is safe for early menopause and does not increase heart disease risk for women between the ages of 50 and 59.
