FTC looks at behavioral targeting

The FTC is in the process of reviewing public comments on its proposed voluntary behavioral marketing guidelines, which could include having sites post warnings that user behavior is being tracked. But some marketers believe it's enough protection for consumers to be able to delete cookies or avoid sites that track their usage. "I really don't know that there is a personal privacy issue here," said Paul Boyle of the Newspaper Association of America. "The government really needs to let things play out."
