The Internet is fueling the creation of a resilient new food supply chain that will change the American diet and bring back the small farm. So it seems, anyway, to entrepreneurs and activists who have been working to remodel food distribution. The future of food "looks like really smart distribution for interweaving networks of smaller-scale farms that are distributing much more locally," says the director of a Web-based service with 4 million users.
