An increase in online learning in Colorado is being linked to a drop in the number of students who are home-schooled across the state, data show. Some students are finding success with a combination of home-schooling and online learning, and some say virtual schools are serving a broader array of students. "We tend to get students on both ends of the spectrum -- from those in special ed and those really struggling and from the upper end, those who are accelerated and gifted and talented," said Heidi Heineke-Magri, head of Colorado's largest online school.
