Analysis: Many small firms are exempt from health insurance mandate

Opponents of the health care law say its requirement that employers provide employee health insurance or pay a fine will have a devastating impact on small businesses, but research paints a different picture. Only 3% of small companies will have to comply with a mandate to provide insurance, and the vast majority of affected firms already offer coverage. Data also show that most work-sponsored health plans already satisfy most of the law's coverage requirements.
