Architecture firm uses precast for design of tornado-safe rooms

Missouri-based Paragon Architecture uses precast concrete for the design of its tornado-safe rooms so they can withstand winds of up to 250 mph, said Brad Erwin, the firm's owner. The design company has worked on dozens of rooms used in schools and community centers across the state. The demand for such structures rose in the wake of this week's tornado in Oklahoma. On Tuesday, the company received six inquiries about safe rooms, Erwin said.
