BBQ sauce tops more burgers in 2013

Barbecue sauce is showing up atop more burgers at U.S. restaurant chains, part of a growing trend that saw dishes made with barbecue sauce increase 34% since 2009, according to Mintel. A scant 6.4% of new dishes are made with branded sauce, while most use unnamed or house-made versions such as the sauce made with Boulevard Brewing's Dark Truth Stout that tops the Dark Truth BBQ Burger at Blanc Burgers + Bottles.
